Overview

Mount Kalsubai the Everest of Maharashtra is located in Bhandardara region and is on borders of Nashik and Ahmed Nagar Districts. The Altitude of the peak is 1646 meters.

According to local folklore, there was a young lady Kalsubai who resided in nearby settlement. Once she was punished by the villagers and was asked to leave the village. She climbed the peak and lived there until her head. And then the peak came to be known as Kalsubai. There is a small temple of godess atop the peak and a small well on the way.

Zenith Odysseys presents a one day trek with a history and nature to enchanting Irshalgad.

This mountain is actually a pinnacle and not a fort. The carved water cisterns indicate that it may have been
a watch tower. In May 1666, when Shri Shiv Chhatrapati captured Konkan and Bhiwandi region,
this fort must have then come under Maratha Rule.
Forts like Prabalgad, Chanderi, Malanggad, Karnala and Manikgad and plateu of Matheran
can be seen from the Zenith of the fort.
